About Adham Hammoud

small size.png

Adham Hammoud is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Registered Counsellor with over 15 years of experience working across mental health, counselling, hospital, crisis, trauma and private practice settings.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative and tailored to each person. I aim to provide a space where people feel heard, respected and able to speak openly about what is happening in their lives. Therapy may involve developing practical strategies, exploring patterns and experiences, processing difficult emotions or memories, and working towards changes that are meaningful to you.

Professional Experience

Over the course of my career, I have worked across a range of mental health settings, including hospitals, community mental health, crisis services, trauma services and private practice. This has given me experience supporting people with a broad range of mental health concerns, from periods of stress and adjustment through to more complex and longstanding difficulties.

I work with adolescents and adults experiencing concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, autism and other forms of neurodivergence, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation difficulties, psychosis and other mental health concerns.

Alongside my counselling work, I provide clinical supervision to social workers, counsellors and other mental health practitioners.

My Approach to Therapy

I work collaboratively with each person to understand what they are experiencing, what is important to them and what they would like to change.

My practice is integrative and draws on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). The approaches we use will depend on your individual needs, preferences and goals.

I aim to balance reflection and exploration with practical strategies that can be applied outside of sessions. Where appropriate, therapy may also involve exploring earlier experiences and patterns that continue to influence how you think, feel or relate to others today.

A Little About Me

I value therapy that feels human, respectful and genuine. I recognise that reaching out for support and speaking openly with someone new can feel difficult, so I aim to create an environment that is welcoming, non-judgemental and collaborative.

My approach is informed by an appreciation of the different cultural, family, community and life experiences that shape who we are. I welcome people from diverse backgrounds and identities and aim to practise in a way that is culturally responsive, LGBTQIA+ affirming and respectful of each person's individual values and beliefs.

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is an important part of therapy. I try to bring warmth, curiosity and authenticity to my work, while creating space for both serious conversations and moments of humour when they arise naturally.
