Fees, Medicare Rebates & Funding

Fees and Session Structure

Below you'll find information about my counselling and clinical supervision fees, as well as Medicare rebates and other funding options that may be available.

If you're unsure whether you are eligible for a particular rebate or funding arrangement, you're welcome to get in touch before booking.

Fees and Session Structure

Sessions typically run for 50 minutes.

Sessions can be held in-person in Moonee Ponds or via telehealth (video/telephone).

Individual sessions: $190 (Medicare rebate = $89.50*).

*With a valid Mental Health Care Plan which you can obtain from your GP. Make sure you book a longer appointment with your GP when asking for this.

Couples sessions: $190. Medicare does not cover couples sessions.

Professional supervision for Social Workers and Counsellors: $150. Sliding scale available for new graduates/students or low income earners. Enquire for details.

NDIS Plan Managed and Self-Managed: fully covered.

Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA): fully covered.

Victorian Victims of Crime/Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS): usually fully covered however you will pay for the session and then submit your invoice to the FAS portal for reimbursement. This is the easiest way as therapists face difficulties accessing the portal.

NSW Victims Services: fully covered.

WorkSafe: fully covered.

TAC: there is a gap fee. Enquire for details.

Private Health Insurance: Some private health funds provide rebates for counselling or mental health social work. Coverage varies between insurers and policies, so I recommend checking directly with your health fund regarding your eligibility and rebate.

Bulk-billing is not available however concessions may be made for pension card/health care card holders or low-income earners. Please enquire.

Medicare Rebates

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Medicare provider, I can provide eligible clients with Medicare-rebatable psychological therapy under the Better Access initiative.

If your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician has referred you under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for counselling sessions.

Individual session fee: $190 Medicare rebate: $89.50 Out-of-pocket cost: $100.50

Medicare rebates are subject to eligibility requirements and the number of sessions available under your referral.

You do not need a Mental Health Treatment Plan to see me. You can also attend as a private-paying client without a referral.

How Does the Medicare Rebate Work?

If you have a valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan, you pay the full session fee at the time of your appointment. I will then lodge your Medicare claim electronically after the session.

Medicare pays the rebate directly into the bank account you have registered with Medicare.

Before your first Medicare-funded appointment, please ensure that you have a current referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.

Please note: I do not currently offer bulk billing however concession rates may be available in some circumstances.
