About me

Hello, my name is Adham Hammoud and I am a Registered Counsellor and Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.

I am consulting in Essendon (Melbourne) and also offering telehealth services Australia-wide.

I am registered with Medicare and can see clients under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, which means you can receive a Medicare rebate for your sessions.

I can also see clients under NDIS (Self-Managed and Plan-Managed), Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme), TAC, WorkSafe Victoria, and various private health funds (depending on your fund and specific policy).

I am also a trained Clinical Supervisor and can provide supervision/mentoring to Social Workers and Counsellors. I am registered with the Australian Counselling Association College of Supervisors.

Areas of support

I support individuals aged 15 and over with a wide range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, stressful life situations, addictions, personality disorders, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts and self-harm, ADHD, autism, neurodivergence, and LGBTQIA+ mental health.

My therapy utilises various approaches, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

Compassionate, respectful, non-judgemental and person-centred

I will work with you at a pace that you are comfortable with. You can share as much or as little as you like. I am comfortable to "go there", to that place you may have been avoiding for so long, out of fear of judgement.

Culturally sensitive

I am very happy and comfortable to work with people from all walks of life - no matter what ethnicity, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or beliefs.

High quality mental health care

Guided by approaches that are evidence-based and highly effective, such as CBT, DBT, ACT and EMDR.

Acknowledgement of Country

I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which I live and work, the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and pay my respects to Elders past and present. I recognise and honour the enduring strength, resilience, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I acknowledge their continuing connection to land, waters, community and culture.

Valuing Lived Experience

I believe that lived experience is a source of knowledge, strength and wisdom. Whether you have experienced mental health challenges, trauma, grief, addiction, discrimination, family violence or other life difficulties, your experiences matter and deserve to be understood in their full context. My approach is collaborative and respectful, recognising that you are the expert in your own life and that meaningful change is built on a foundation of trust, curiosity and compassion.

LGBTQIA+ Affirmation

I am committed to providing an affirming, inclusive and non-judgemental space for LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples and families. I welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and relationship structures. Therapy should be a place where you can bring your whole self without fear of judgement, and where your identity is respected, affirmed and understood as an important part of who you are.

As a practitioner, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment that recognises the unique strengths, challenges and experiences of LGBTQIA+ communities.

Culturally and Faith-Informed Care

I have experience working with individuals from culturally diverse communities, including clients seeking a therapist who understands the intersection of faith/religion, spirituality, culture, family, identity and mental health.

Whether faith/religion and/or spirituality is central to your life, something you are questioning, or not relevant to your goals, therapy will be tailored to your individual needs and values.
